British Values
British Values are fully supported by our In Partnership Values. At Leeds City Academy, students are taught about British Values via the DNA programme which incorporates sequences of lessons on UK law, democracy, rights and responsibilities, respect & tolerance and freedom of expression and opinion.
All students are also taught Equality law, including the Equality Act 2010 and the Human Rights Act 1998.
British Values are enhanced further through our Culture Conferences, form and assembly programme and the wider curriculum.
The Prevent Agenda
Prevent is a government strategy designed to stop people becoming involved in extreme actions, becoming terrorists or supporting terrorist or extremist causes. The Prevent strategy covers all types of terrorism and extremism, including the extreme right wing, violent Islamist groups and other radical causes.
At Leeds City Academy, all students are taught about radicalisation and extremism so that they can identify potentially harmful behaviour and make positive and safe choices. Students are provided with the skills needed to recognise exploitive behaviour and are made fully aware of how to report anything of concern. Both staff and students work closely with external links to ensure that the whole academy community is aware of current information within this area.
