2019 Rotary Award Winners

Three Leeds City Academy students have been awarded the prestigious Leeds Rotary Young Citizenship Award.

Daniel, Hanim and Elona were commended for being inspiring individuals in a ceremony held in the Banqueting Suite of Leeds Civic Hall, in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Leeds.

Daniel and Hanim received this esteemed award as they both willingly were trained as Buddies at Leeds City Academy. They are a massive support to the Newly Arrived New to English EAL students. They consistently show empathy and are good role models to these students. Hanim also acts as an interpreter to students throughout the Academy day and attends Parents’ Evenings to interpret for Parents’.

Elona was also awarded this impressive award for her volunteering work at CATCH. Elona attends this club each week and helps to run sessions for young people. Elona encourages her peers to attend and to help improve their community.

The Lord Mayor, who presented the awards, commented that the students were not only a credit to Leeds City Academy but to the community of Leeds.
