Celebrating Growth and Legacy:
Leeds City Academy Opens New Expansion

Grand Opening
As we closed another successful academic year at Leeds City Academy, we marked the occasion with a momentous celebration – the official opening of our new school expansion and a heartfelt farewell to several much-loved members of our school community.
The event brought together students, staff, and our incredible project partners – Morgan Sindall, AtkinsRéalis, Watson Batty Architects, Leeds City Council, and local councillors – whose collaborative efforts made this transformation a reality.
In a special tribute, we honoured long-serving staff members retiring after 21 to 32 years of dedicated service to the academy. Each now has a room in the new building named in their honour – a lasting legacy and a reminder of their impact on generations of students.
We are proud to share that this expansion project was recognised nationally, receiving the Pagabo Award for Best Collaboration – a true testament to the teamwork and shared vision that powered this success.
Our new facilities include:
✅ 11 brand-new teaching rooms
✅ A state-of-the-art science studio and laboratories
✅ A fully equipped music room and practice spaces
✅ Breakout learning areas and additional canteen space
✅ Infrastructure enhancements including a new substation and drainage
This development represents more than just bricks and mortar – it symbolises growth, opportunity, and our continued commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment.
A sincere thank you to everyone who played a part in bringing this expansion to life. We look forward to the next chapter as we continue to empower our students to thrive.
