Leeds City Academy celebrates best ever GCSE results

Students across the country collected their GCSE results this morning and at Leeds City Academy, our high-achieving Year 11 students were celebrating record-breaking grades.

Ms Rose, Principal of Leeds City Academy, said: "What a brilliant year! We've had some fantastic results today and we're incredibly proud of the students and staff who have worked so hard to get these grades. I am particularly delighted with the Grade 9s which we've achieved in English and in Maths. Science results have gone up 20%, History has also gone up 36%. We're delighted and excited for the future of our young people, who have earned their results through resilience and determination, coupled with the unending support of our staff. Well done to everyone today - I hope you're as proud of your achievements as we are. We all at Leeds City Academy wish our young people the very best for the future."

Highlights

The Academy exists to ensure that every child reaches their full potential. This morning, many of our young people were celebrating outstanding grades with family and friends. Alixe was delighted to receive 85 points, including two Grade 9s, a Distinction* and a Grade 8 coupled with three A*s and four As. Ferial secured 78 points with a Grade 9, two A*s, two As and two Distinctions*. Wisal, with 76 points, was awarded three Grade 7s, two A*s, two As and 2 Distinctions*.

Mr Whitaker, Executive Principal of The White Rose Academies Trust, commented this morning: “I am delighted to celebrate with our students today, who have secured the results they have so tirelessly strived towards. I firmly believe that all the young people of Leeds are entitled to a first-class education offering exceptional, inspirational teaching. We know the future of Leeds is vibrant and exciting – but for our region to reach its full potential in future, it demands a serious investment in the young people who will, ultimately, drive forward and shape our city of tomorrow. Today, we celebrate and commend our students’ achievements and look to the future with great excitement.”
