Students Scouted by Basketball Academy
Boys' Skills Impress Basketball Coach
On Wednesday 7th March, Leeds City Academy’s Year 11 basketball team, accompanied by Mr Carrington, Mr Hill and Mr Wade, headed to Leeds Beckett University for the Leeds North East Under 16's Boys Basketball festival and played against schools from the district.
Unfortunately, the team lost in the semi-finals by three points against the experienced opposition; if the boys won the tournament, they would have had the opportunity to go to the Leeds finals later this year.
Despite the loss, four of the LCA students were scouted by a basketball coach who attended the event and were invited to join the Basketball Academy for a trial the following weekend and take their game to another level. This is an amazing opportunity for the chosen boys to push on in a sport they love.
Mr Carrington said: “Every single one of the boys represented the Academy impeccably, we are extremely proud of their efforts and professionalism throughout the whole event.”
